You know those dresses the Latin girls wore in West Side Story? Well, this dress is of the same style - full circle skirts don't get any bigger than this. But in its down position, it's still delightfully 'swishy' but without looking OTT, which is due to the lightness of the shiny satiny fabric (Rayon?). The bodice is simple, thank goodness, although you can spice it up with the two ties, which you can add to the shoulders as bows for example. If you look at the photo of the pair of ties you will see the underside of the fabric is covered in row upon row of silky threads which make up the design on the front of the fabric. They are threaded through the fabric so only a small bit appears on the other side - and it's like that all over the dress. Quite incredible. The condition is excellent, with nothing significant to list as a defect, although there has been a small repair at the front tip of the V-neck. Unlined and with a side zipper. Label: A Nettie Vogue Model - London W.1 Year: c.1950s Size: Bust 34"(max), Waist 24" (max). Length of skirt 28". Ref: 6014
